Gospel Spirit Comes to Monterey

Come Have a Whale of a Good Time
She was one of the world's greatest gospel singers, yet she grew up in a shot-gun shack in New Orleans and faced all the discrimination and prejudice the 'old South' could throw at her. Yet Mahalia Jackson rose to the pinnacle of fame through the magic of her voice and the exuberant force of her personality.

Mahalia: A Gospel Musical celebrates her life and music in an unforgettable evening of song. One performance only: March 7. For ticket prices and more information, call 831-582-4580, or visit www.csumb.edu/worldtheater
Winter is whale-watching season off the Monterey coast. From now through May, a vast underwater procession of gray whales glides beneath the Pacific's surface, as they make their way from their winter breeding grounds around Baja California to the Bering Sea.

Whale-watching boats set off daily (weather and seas permitting) from Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey and Moss Landing. They are escorted by naturalists who help guests spot and identify whales and other ocean inhabitants, including orca whales, dolphins, porpoises, and sea lions.
