Ansel Adams Centennial

Shopping season
sets in

Two unique Ansel Adams exhibitions will soon be on view at the National Steinbeck Center in Salinas. Ansel Adams: Inspiration and Influence runs November 15 through March 16, 2003, and Edges and Intersections: Ansel Adams in Yosemite runs November 15 through April 27, 2003. Ansel Adams and John Steinbeck were both born in February, 1902.

The 'Inspiration' show includes about 80 photographs. It pairs a number of Adams' images with those by other important photographers, candid portraits of Adams taken by noted contemporaries, and comments made by Adams about his influences and the work of other photographers.

The 'Intersections' show treats the viewer to a personal view of the great photographer, unique amongst Ansel Adams exhibitions. It touches on the intersections of creative photography, conservation, education, family, and Yosemite.
