The Stars Come Out to Play

The AT&T National Pro-Am Golf Tournament returns to Pebble Beach each February. Played on Poppy Hills, Spyglass, and the famous Pebble Beach Golf Links, the annual tournament features top professionals and celebrities playing side by side in an effort to raise money for charity. Monterey County's most famous resident, Clint Eastwood, who is now part-owner of Pebble Beach, is always a big draw for the galleries.

Other Tinseltown talent on the course during the Pro-Am includes Bill Murray and Joe Pesci; singers Huey Lewis, Kenny G., and Michael Bolton, and sports stars Michael Jordan and Jerry Rice, are also invited to play in this prestigious tournament each year. And, of course, pros like Tiger Woods, Jack Nicholas, aka the Golden Bear, and others wouldn't even think about missing this event. Held the first week of February, this PGA tournament is broadcast on USA Network and CBS Sports.

The Secret's Out
Bayonet and Black Horse golf courses are located on the former Fort Ord Army Base, and until recently, were for the use of active duty, retired military, and their guests only. The courses were opened to the public in 1997, after the Army base was closed, and both 18-hole courses boast sweeping panoramic views of the Monterey Bay.
