Many species of cetaceans - including the trio of "great whales," the gray, the blue and the humpback - make their way through the ocean currents not far from Monterey Bay. This new educational festival all about gray whales, held on Monterey's Fisherman's Wharf, will be packed with information and fun.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium's new program, Oceans 2006: Year of Exploring, kicks off with a visit from "Diego," cousin of "Dora the Explorer" of Nickelodeon fame. Families can pick up the Official Explorer’s Passport this weekend, to use for a full year of special activities and events.

Plant a little bit of Monterey in your own garden: gardening buffs are invited to exchange softwood cutting materials, seedling plants, bulbs, potted plants, etc. The Parks Division will have free seedling trees available for the public. Participants are encouraged to bring cuttings and plants for the exchange.
