Monterey Bay Aquarium to open "Ocean's Edge" in 2005
The Monterey Bay Aquarium first opened its doors in 1984, and it has been one of California's prime attractions ever since. Its exhibits are consistently innovative, appealing, and exciting to viewers of all ages, yet its educational message underlies all its activities.

A walk-through wave crash, expanded touch pools and aviary, and high-definition video exhibits are highlights of the aquarium's new exhibit, "Ocean's Edge: Coastal Habitats of Monterey Bay," opening on May 28, 2005. A renovation of many near shore exhibits that have anchored the aquarium since it opened, "Ocean’s Edge" reintroduces visitors to the coastal habitats of California’s central coast. Other features include expanded Coastal Wetlands and Sandy Shores galleries, a Living Wharf gallery that addresses healthy fishing and ocean wildlife, and intimate “jewel case” exhibits.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2004 with renovations and the opening of Sharks: Myth and Mystery. To learn more about "Ocean's Edge," "Sharks: Myth and Mystery," and other exhibits and events, visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium's website at www.montereybayaquarium.org.
